Superficially, it’s good design. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find that each product is designed by Philadelphia’s Public Workshop’s youth-led design-build community. The program empowers young adults by melding product design, fabrication, and entrepreneurship. That in itself is inspiring, but the products show that it’s more than a feel-good exercise. Whether it’s bowls, chopsticks, lighting, desk organizers, or other products – there is a solid bond between the practical, the functional and the creative – and that’s what design should be.
In their own words “We are a growing army of empowered and skilled young adult leaders and change agents who want to make our neighborhoods and Philadelphia in general, better places to live through design!”
Products can be purchased through The Building Hero Project Etsy store.
