design picks ROAD TRIP
These picks are inspired by a recent road trip that included a few stays on Route 66 including the Wigwam Motel – as seen in the “Have You Slept in a Wigwam?” postcard featured below.

We love these modern Thank U cards from San Francisco design studio, Lizard Press. The perfect way to show appreciation – in a super stylish way – for those handknitted socks from Aunt Agnes. White might be the most modern of colors – beautiful, simple and sometimes wholly impractical. Today’s inspiration came from the Etsy – and the white ceramic hanging pod vases that found their way into my inbox.
I just love this top…and yes, despite looking somewhat fantastic on the model here, mere mortals shouldn’t wear it as a dress.
With Father’s Day just around the corner, I decided to make the design of the week something for the Dads out there. Sherry Truitt has been featured before on the WHAT designers blog with her fabulous “spirit level” cufflinks.

Inspired by an announcement via Stylehive, I just had to check out some rings on the MOCAshop website. I was immediately drawn to Argentinian designer, Magali Anidjar. Some pieces are clean and modern, and some – like the Fired ring – look like happy crafting accidents. Check out more from jewelry designer, Magali Anidjar at [...]
There are some things that are so adorable that my voice reaches a level that only dogs can hear. This doesn’t help me much. Then when a website offers “you might also be interested in…” well, those dogs came running! It’s the simple things – and these silly characters from Singapore based Little Odd Forest [...]
Don’t try this at home folks. I mean wearing these 3 pieces together might be a little too much, but individually these pieces add an avant guard flavor to the wardrobe. The designer herself warns against going head to toe pattern. That being said, it is refreshing to see work that is individual without being [...]
The sky is grey – rain, rain go away – but spotted here and there in the garden are daffodils. And, this seems as good a time as any to feature some spring like yellow products from some fabulous independent designers. All of these products are super sunny looking, but my favorite has got to [...]
It is fashion week, as Tim Gunn put it on the Daily Show “the Superbowl of fashion”. Who knew Jon Stewart was a Project Runway fan – maybe his Men’s Warehouse suits are a guise for lounging around at home haute couture. But wait, this is really about some lovely little garments by local students [...]
